3 Skin Care Oils to Put on Your Radar

Coconut oil is great—really, it is—but it’s not the be-all-end-all when it comes to plant-derived oils that can benefit our skin. Plant-derived, natural oils often contain essential fatty acids that are crucial for hydrating and nourishing the skin. While devotees will agree coconut oil is fantastic, but we wanted to share three other plant-derived skin care oils you should put on your radar this spring. Sorry coconut oil, but you’ve got some competition.

Camellia Oil

Distilled from the tea seed plant, camellia oil is high in oleic acid—a neutral lipid. It’s been known to nourish and soothe the skin and it’s been said that the oil can act as an antioxidant. Try camellia oil in your skin care routine using Vichy’s Pureté Thermale Cleansing Micellar Oil. Blending micellar technology—the same that’s responsible for the no-rinse French cleansers—and nourishing camellia oil, this cleansing oil leaves skin feeling supple, soft, hydrated, and clean.

Hemp Seed Oil

Forget everything you think you know about hemp. Hemp seed oil—rich in omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids—like other plant-based oils is a natural hydrator. Its moisturizing properties make it ideal for helping to hydrate and soothe dry skin. Hydrate your skin with the power of hemp thanks to The Body Shop’s Hemp Hand Protector. Ideal for hands that spend extra time in the elements, it offers heavy-duty moisture to areas of your skin that are parched.

Jojoba Oil

Pronounced hoh-hoh-buh—I know, I’ve been saying it wrong all this time, too—jojoba oil is frequently used in hydrating formulas for skin and hair thanks to its moisturizing fatty acids. Give your skin a dose of hydration from jojoba oil with Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Soy Milk and Honey Whipped Body Butter. This rich whipped cream delivers lightweight but lasting hydration and features shea butter and squalene in addition to jojoba oil.
