Our Editors Share Their 5 Product Empties This Fall

As beauty editors at Skincare.com, we are lucky enough to receive a plethora of complimentary skin care and beauty products from the L’Oréal portfolio of brands to test and review on behalf of our readers. In doing so, we often come across products that make us question how we ever lived without them—products that quickly become a staple in our everyday skin care routines. With that being said, these products don’t last forever (especially at the rate we use them) and every month we are faced with a variety of empty bottles, tubes, and jars that once held our most-loved skin care formulas. Ahead, our editors share their top five product empties that they can’t wait to stock up on again.

Jackie, Editor in Chief:

La Roche-Posay Effaclar BB Blur

I’m admittedly a full-coverage liquid foundation kind of girl but after I ran out of my normal go-to I ended up reaching for one of the samples we had in the closet and low and behold, I’ve become a BB cream convert. This particular BB cream was unlike any other I’ve tried in the past. It went on like velvet and hid the minor skin imperfections I typically turned to liquid foundation to conceal—my freckles and a few small blemishes thanks to the beauty of being a woman for those wondering. The BB Blur was the first formula I’ve used that left me with a truly long-lasting matte complexion as it’s formulated to help to absorb excess oils. What’s more? It’s paraben-free and has broad-spectrum SPF 20!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water All-In-1 Waterproof Makeup Remover & Cleanser

One aspect of my skin care routine that I’m really strict about is cleansing, especially at night to remove my makeup and any dirt and impurities my skin picked up over the course of the day. Micellar water has been my go-to for a long time now. A longtime French beauty favorite, the multitasking cleanser enlists gentle micelles to capture and lift away stubborn dirt, oil, and cosmetics like a magnet. As a beauty editor, I’ve tested many micellar water formulas, and can say with conviction that this elixir by Garnier ranks high on my list. I received a complimentary sample from the brand and have since restocked on it twice. My skin always feels perfectly clean and refreshed after using it—no rinsing or harsh rubbing required. And at just less than $9, it’s definitely one of the cheaper items in my arsenal (which I’m not complaining about).

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

Another aspect of my skin routine I’m crazed about? Moisturizing. This lightweight daily facial moisturizer—with extracts of glacial glycoproteins and desert plants—is one of my all-time favorites. Kiehl’s sent over a complimentary sample a few months back and I’ve been hooked ever since. My skin is left feeling soft and smooth, and looking hydrated and healthy—even during cold, harsh temperatures.

SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel

One of the most important aspects of my skin care routine (or any skin care routine, for that matter) is hydration—and boy does my normal-to-dry skin need it during the fall and winter seasons. SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel is formulated with vitamin B5 and hyaluronic acid which can work together to promote a soft and supple-looking and feeling complexion. This is one skin care product that I use until the very last drop!

SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel, $82

The Body Shop Vitamin C Facial Radiance Powder

After hydration, comes radiance—and protection against environmental aggressors such as free radicals and pollution. As an honorary New Yorker, I spent a lot of time (i.e. all of my time) surrounded by pollution, so it is important to me that I use a skin care product that can help combat some of the negative side effects of city life and promote a radiant, youthful-looking glow. Enter: The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Facial Radiance Powder. Enriched with Amazonian camu camu berry and the brand’s Community Trade aloe vera, this freshly mixed powder with serum works to keep my dry, dull skin at bay and provides it with the extra protection it needs in order to withstand the city’s grime.
