Trend Alert: The Lipstick Everyone's Talking About This Runway Season

But you don’t have to be a supermodel to don the gorgeous, deep burgundy shade around town. The versatile hue is easy to incorporate straight off the runway into everyday looks and flatters skin tones from fair to deep. Ahead, we give you the scoop on the model-approved lipstick and share why it’s a must in everyone’s collection.

MAYBELLINE NEW YORK COLOR SENSATIONAL LOADED BOLDS IN MIDNIGHT MERLOT

Color Sensational Loaded Bolds lipstick delivers vibrant, va-va-voom color with just one stroke. The highly-pigmented, creamy formula is available in a collection of full-spectrum shades—20 to be exact—from jet black to bright white, but right now we’re all eyes on the universally-flattering Midnight Merlot. Keep reading to discover how to apply (and remove!) Midnight Merlot without irritating your delicate pout at the end of the day!

TO APPLY

Dry lips are never a good complement to lipstick. Before applying Midnight Merlot, prep your pout by sloughing away dead skin cells for a smooth canvas. We recommend using a lip scrub or scuff with gentle particles that can help remove pesky cells that can cause a rough, uneven lip surface. Follow up with your favorite lip balm or conditioner to reintroduce moisture. Once your lips have absorbed all traces of moisture and feel silky smooth, begin applying Midnight Merlot in the center of your upper lip. Follow the natural contours of your mouth, and then glide the lipstick across your entire bottom lip. As a last step, throw on your favorite LBD (or jeans and a T-shirt, we’re not judging!) and you’re ready to paint the town red burgundy.

TO REMOVE

As a general rule of thumb for makeup, what goes on must come off at the end of the night. Falling asleep with cosmetics is a big skin care no-no. Since your lips contain no oil glands, going to bed with lipstick on can cause unwanted dryness. Before bed, soak a cotton pad with micellar water and gently sweep it across your mouth. The formula is powerful enough to remove all traces of makeup yet gentle to not irritate sensitive lips. We share a few micellar waters we love here!
