Our Editors Put the L’Oréal Paris 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum to the Test
Hyaluronic acid is a serum every skin-care lover should have in their collection — and while it’s a product that is traditionally found at higher price points, L’Oréal Paris created one that completely shatters the mold. Enter: Revitalift Derm Intensives 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum, one of the first drugstore formulas of its kind to hit the market. It claims to visibly plump to reduce the look of wrinkles on the skin. I’ve been obsessed with hyaluronic acid serums for years. I generally use them as a bonus hydration step when the weather is cold or dry (or when I’m traveling), patting a few drops on top of my favorite antioxidant serum and before my moisturizer. I tend to go through these serums quickly, so price is important, and that’s where this version comes in. It’s a straightforward HA serum that gets the job done and is super affordable. The skin around my nose looked healthy all winter (not always the case) thanks to this formula.

I’ve been singing hyaluronic acid’s praises for years, but my dirty little secret is that I’ve never actually liked the high-end HAs I’ve tried. Whether it has been a clear, goopy serum that costs as much as my rent, or a hydrator that feels more like a slick lotion, they’ve all caused my moisturizer, sunscreen and makeup to pill when I layer them on top. As a result, I’ve only been using HAs at night, and believe me, my dry skin could use the extra hit of hydration in the A.M., too. I don’t know what kind of sorcery is in this under-$25 product, but it goes on like a dream, absorbs quickly and never creates an issue with the rest of my routine. I apply it right after I get out of the shower, and it makes my thirsty skin feel like it just gulped down a cool glass of water. I’m obsessed!

As someone with dry skin that’s been known to get flaky or scaly on occasion, hyaluronic acid is a staple in my everyday skin-care routine. I tend to choose a daily moisturizer with sunscreen that contains hyaluronic acid as my source of hydration, rather than a dedicated hyaluronic acid serum, but this one from L’Oréal Paris changed all that. I first applied it after the shower when my face was still damp, followed by my nightly moisturizer (yes, I’m a shower-at-night kind of person). After using it for over a week, my skin feels (and looks!) hydrated and plump. Whether you’re new to hyaluronic acid or looking for an affordable formula that’ll get the job done, don’t look past this great drugstore find.

I’m a massive fan of all kinds of hyaluronic acid serums, so I was excited to try the 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum when it landed on my desk. The first thing I noticed about this drugstore version was how beautifully it was packaged — in a thick glass bottle with a metal dropper. It looks luxe and feels heavy, similar to the type of serums you’d find at a high-end beauty store. The product inside also gives off an expensive feel, it’s smooth and dense in consistency and a little product goes a long way. My skin has been particularly dry recently, and after a few days of use I’ve noticed it’s less cracked, more plumped and calm. It seriously gives my high-end HA a run for its money.

I’m a glutton for moisture (so much so that I triple moisturize), so any opportunity for me to slather my skin in more moisturizing products is welcome. Even better if it’s affordable and something I can recommend to my non-beauty editor friends, so when I was tasked with trying the 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum, to say I was excited is a little bit of an understatement. I immediately incorporated it into my minimal (for someone in the industry) skin-care routine — cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer, sunscreen — and my skin looked glowier and felt more hydrated after using it for a few weeks. It has a thick consistency that spreads easily, and I recommend giving it a few minutes to really soak into your skin. I like to pair it with my favorite rose quartz facial roller — it’s like I’m chilling spa-side from the comfort of my bathroom. I’m in love.

Serums are by far my favorite skin-care product to test, so I couldn’t wait to try L’Oréal Paris’ new Hyaluronic Acid Serum. I have combination skin that tends to get very dry in the winter, so practically all of my beauty products are formulated with hyaluronic acid, but this was my first foray into an HA-specific serum. After cleansing my face, I applied a few drops directly to my skin with the dropper and pressed it on to my face and neck. Instantly I was impressed with how luxe the formula felt —it has a thicker consistency that glides nicely onto the skin and leaves you feeling deeply moisturized. Afterward, I added it to my skin-care display shelf because — c'mon — how could you not with a bottle this pretty?
