- Spring Clean: How to Get Better-Looking Skin This Spring
Now that spring is officially on the horizon, it’s time to kick your prep into high-gear. You may have spruced up your home with a deep-down cleaning, gotten rid of old clothes, and organized your working space for efficiency—but how about a spring clean for your skin? Nothing shouts “out with the old and in with the new” quite like a gorgeous, glowing complexion coming off the harsh winter months.
Speaking of harsh winter months, there’s no denying that frigid temps and dry air can suck the life right out of a formerly radiant-looking complexion. But warmer spring weather comes with its own set of challenges as well. Increased heat and humidity can cause your skin to sweat, which—if you’re not careful—could lead to breakouts. We’re here to help make sure that doesn’t happen. Keep reading for tips on how to freshen up your spring skin care regimen for your better-looking skin!

TIP #1: EXFOLIATE FOR A HEALTHY-LOOKING GLOW
It’s not uncommon for dead skin cells to pile up on the surface and cause a rough, dull-looking complexion as a result. To help accelerate skin cell turnover, avoid clogged pores, and reveal radiant-looking skin, you’ll have to exfoliate. That’s where Lancôme Visionnaire Crescendo comes in. The leave-on, bi-phase liquid nighttime face peel works to gently exfoliate skin surface cells and address multiple skin concerns. The peel is to be used over the course of 28 days, split into two phases used for 14 days each. “The first phase is your endurance-building phase,” says Cara Chamberlain, AVP of Lancôme Learning. “The formula can help smooth and even the look of your skin, and builds your skin up to get ready for phase two.” After 14 days of using phase one, Chamberlain—who uses Visionnaire Crescendo in her own routine—says to switch over to phase two. “I call phase two your performance-boosting phase,” she says. “It features salicylic acid and glycolic acid, which is the number one ingredient recommended by dermatologists for exfoliating and anti-aging when it comes to peels. Crescendo has the highest percentage of glycolic acid available over-the-counter today, and it truly helps to re-texturize the surface of your skin.”
Exfoliating regularly is a smart move, but you don’t want to overdo it. When using Visionnaire Crescendo, you’ll want to stay away from other exfoliating products. “Crescendo is exfoliating for you with dermatological ingredients, so you don’t need to use the other exfoliators while you’re using this product,” says Chamberlain. “That would just be doing double-duty, and it’s not good for your skin to hyper-exfoliate.”

TIP #2: HYDRATE YOUR SKIN WITH MOISTURIZER
For all the benefits exfoliating can provide, it can also leave your skin feeling dry and flaky. To help combat unwanted dryness, be sure to moisturize your skin daily. Chamberlain recommends pairing Visionnaire Crescendo with applications of Lancôme Rénergie Lift Multi-Action Ultra Moisturizer. “This moisturizer is a beautiful partner for Crescendo,” she says. “The reason I like the two of them together is because the moisturizer delivers a lot of hydration even though it’s oil-free, and most importantly because it boasts an SPF 30.” Chamberlain explains that when using a nighttime peel, it’s crucial to protect your skin from harmful UV rays during the daytime hours. “I would want you to protect your skin with an SPF 30, especially if you’re using an evening peel, versus an SPF 15,” she says. “That’s why I believe they’re the perfect partners.”
Thinking about adding Visionnaire Crescendo and Rénergie Lift Multi-Action Ultra Moisturizer into your spring skin care routine? Now’s the time to stock up because Lancôme is offering a promotion on both products! When purchasing Rénergie Lift Multi-Action Ultra Moisturizer on lancome-usa.com you’ll receive 30% off Visionnaire Crescendo with code PEEL30. But act fast—this promotion is only lasting through the week of March 12th!
TIP #3: BE DILIGENT WITH SUNSCREEN
The sun’s harmful UV rays should always be a concern of yours, regardless of the season. That said, spring often brings more excuses to hang around outdoors. Remember: exposure to the sun and UV radiation is one of the biggest factors associated with premature signs of skin aging, including wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots. Be sure to apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher to your skin prior to heading outdoors, and reapply at least every two hours. For the best line of protection, monitor your sun time, wear protective clothing, seek shade periodically, and avoid peak sun hours—between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.—when rays are strongest.
TIP #4: DON’T OVER-CLOG THE SKIN
Where the winter months were big on thick emollients and creamy cleansers, the spring and summer months are an opportunity to go a little lighter with your skin care products. To avoid clogging your pores, reach for products that are non-comedogenic. On the go, stick to lotions, toners, thermal water sprays and/or products that can help the skin breathe and stay hydrated. But don’t go crazy with applying products to your skin. In fact, many people like to take a break from heavy product and makeup use during the warmer seasons. When in doubt, stick to a simple yet effective routine, and talk to your dermatologist for help creating one that’s tailor-made for your skin’s needs and concerns.
