How Celebrities Prep Their Skin for Awards Shows

ALLISON WILLIAMS

Williams’ look—by Celebrity Makeup Artist Kelsey Deenihan on behalf of Kiehl’s and Avon—was inspired by Old Hollywood glitz and glamour.

To prep her skin, Deenihan starting things off with the Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask, placing it on Williams’ skin for five minutes for instant radiance. “It’s the best way to waken the skin and make sure it’s in its most radiant state to begin prepping for makeup,” Deenihan says. “If time allows, a mask is always a good way to begin any glam session!”

Next, Deenihan applied the Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate onto Williams’ skin. This vitamin C serum just got a makeover and is now formulated with even more vitamin C—12.5 percent to be exact—and hyaluronic acid. (To learn more, read our product review here.) “Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate warms on the skin and makes it look smoother and more radiant by diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles,” Deenihan says. Deenihan then followed with the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream for all-over hydration, and the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado for some under-eye TLC. “Making sure the under eye is hydrated is the only way to ensure concealer doesn’t look cakey and dry,” Deenihan says. “I applied the Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado to [Williams’] under eyes to moisturize and soothe the delicate skin and prepare it for concealer.”

As a last step before foundation, Deenihan applied a few dabs of the Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector to Williams’ forehead and cheeks. “The Skin Perfector helps cut any excess shine and softens the appearance of pores and fine lines, leaving the skin in perfect condition to begin foundation,” Deenihan says.

If time allows, a mask is always a good way to begin any glam session!

Taylor Schilling

TAYLOR SCHILLING

Schilling’s look—by Celebrity Makeup Artist Tina Turnbow on behalf of Kiehl’s and JAFRA Cosmetics—was inspired by ultra ‘70s glamour.

To prep Schilling’s skin, Turnbow used the Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranbery Seed Energizing Radiance Mask to brighten the skin and add a natural glow. This formula just so happens to be a favorite of the Skincare.com team to invigorate and brighten the skin’s appearance—here’s our product review as proof! To prep the eyes for concealer, Turnbow applied Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. Since a hydrated base is one of the key components to a gorgeous makeup look, Turnbow hydrated Schilling’s skin all over with the classic Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. As a last step, Turnbow applied Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector to prevent unwanted shine and keep Schilling’s makeup looking flawless.
