Editor's Pick: Lancôme Advanced Genefique Sensitive Review

As sensitive skin types know, it can be a serious bummer when everyone’s raving about a new must-have product. Hearing about the latest and greatest skin care launches should be exciting—that’s why we love to write about them—but that isn’t always the case if you never know how your complexion might react to something new. Often, it’s safer to simply not use a product unless it’s tried and true. This was exactly the case with one of Lancome’s most popular serums, Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate Serum. Of course, anyone and everyone wanted to add the serum to their skin care collections after hearing about all of its benefits, but sensitive skin types may have treaded with caution. Well, not anymore. In an effort to not leave anyone out, along came the Lancome Advanced Génifique Sensitive. The brand sent over a complimentary sample to the Skincare.com team, and we couldn’t wait to give it a whirl. Read on for our review of Lancome Advanced Génifique Sensitive.

What You Need to Know About Lancôme Génifique

Before we dive into the review, let’s take a little walk through history. Back in 2009, Lancome introduced their new anti-aging treatment: Génifique. To date, over 15 million bottles (woah!) have been sold worldwide. In 2013, that same formula and self-loading dropper became Advanced Génifique, with a goal to achieve youthful radiance you can see and feel within a week. (You can see why it’s so popular.) Advanced Génifique features a patented complex with added biotechnology-derived ingredients and is formulated to help improve skin texture, resiliency, and elasticity, among other visible signs of aging. Now, in 2017, Génifique is evolving again, with a whole new serum. While fans of the classic will still be able to get their hands on their beloved bottles of the Youth Activating Concentrate Serum, now there’s something for sensitive skin types to work into their beauty regimens, too.

Lancôme Advanced Génifique Sensitive Review

Seasonal changes, pollution and even the stresses of modern life may result in the feeling of fragility on the surface of your skin—that’s to say, tight skin, tingling sensations, and discomforts. The solution? You guessed it, it’s Lancôme Advanced Génifique Sensitive.

Recommended For: This dual concentrate doesn’t discriminate. It’s suitable for all skin types, even sensitive. That’s right, those of you with sensitive skin, you won’t have to sit this one out!

Why We Love It: Lancôme’s new serum has earned our praise thanks to its amazing formula, or should we say, formulas. The serum contains two formulas in one product, isolated from each other until the very first use to maintain their freshness (more on that next). At activation, the blue concentrate enriched with antioxidants (pure ferulic acid and vitamin E) releases into the base to create a dual concentrate that helps to soothe sensitive skin and revive skin’s radiance, while protecting against daily aggressors. Basically, a dream come true for anyone with sensitive skin.

How to Use It: For your first use, there are few extra steps but we promise it’s worth it. Begin by pushing and twisting the cap clockwise to release the blue concentrate into the base concentrate. Shake until the two concentrates are evenly mixed, then unscrew and dispose of the cap. Replace with the dropper.

When you’re ready to actually apply the serum to your skin, remember to gently shake the bottle before each use. Release a few drops of product into the palm of your hand, then smooth over your face and neck. Use Lancôme Advanced Génifique Sensitive at night for one month.

Editor’s tip: Store your serum in a cool place! Keeping it somewhere where the temperature gets too high—aka anywhere near a window or your shower—can compromise the formula. That’s true of most products! Plus, you’ll love smoothing on a cool serum at the end of the day as a way to refresh your skin—much preferable to one that’s overheated, wouldn’t you agree?
