Honey-Glazed Carrots Recipe Inspired by Beauty Recipes From Nature

Raw honey, Manuka honey—we don’t discriminate, we love all things honey when it comes to our skin care. The superfood is a natural humectant that boasts ultra-hydrating properties that can leave the skin feeling soft, smooth, and supple. But that’s not all. Antioxidant-rich raw honey can also help protect the skin from environmental aggressors and promote a more youthful-looking complexion. So, in honor of this sweetly-scented ingredient, we’re sharing one of our favorite honey-infused skin care products AND a heathy carrots recipe (perfect for the holidays) with—yup, you guessed it—more honey!

THE MASK: THE BODY SHOP ETHIOPIAN HONEY DEEP NOURISHING MASK

Formulated with the brand’s Community Trade honey from Ethiopia, cold-pressed marula oil from Namibia and olive oil from Italy, this nature-inspired face mask can help to hydrate, nourish, and moisturize skin, leaving your complexion looking replenished and more supple. Think of it like a mini at-home honey facial. The deeply nourishing melting honey mask was inspired by African rituals and can be used on its own or incorporated it into a multi-masking session using The Body Shop’s four other Beauty Recipes from Nature Expert Face Masks.

The Body Shop Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask, $28

Given the masks were inspired by beauty recipes from nature, we thought why not use the them as inspiration for actual recipes? With the holiday season just around the corner, good for you (and your taste buds) sides are in high demand. Below we share a honey-glazed carrots recipe that was inspired by the Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask! Get your mask on and then get your munch on with the recipe below!

THE MEAL: HONEY-GLAZED CARROTS

Even hearty root vegetables deserve a little dressing up this holiday, don’t you think? These sweet baby carrots make the perfect accompaniment to other holiday staples, like turkey, cornbread, and mashed potatoes. The addition of honey really makes them finger-licking good! So much so that you might want to make an extra batch or two. (Don’t say we didn’t warn you!) Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients

  • 1 pound baby carrots
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ cup chopped flat-leaf parsley to garnish
  • Salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
  • Directions

    1. In a medium pan, bring water to a boil.
    2. Add salt and carrots and cook under fork-tender, about five to six minutes.
    3. Drain the carrots and add them back into the same pan with butter, honey, and lemon juice.
    4. Cook and stir occasionally until a glaze coats the carrots, about five minutes.
    5. Season with salt and pepper, transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped parsley.

    Bon appétit!
