We Tried It: Kiehl’s Herbal-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Looking for a micellar water? Add Kiehl’s Herbal-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water to your repertoire. The new formula just launched, and our friends at Kiehl’s were nice enough to share a complimentary sample with the Skincare.com team. Naturally, we were more than happy to give it a try and share our review.

THE BENEFITS OF MICELLAR WATER

We like turning to micellar water to cleanse our skin and remove makeup for a couple of reasons. For starters, it’s incredibly easy to use. All it takes to cleanse surface impurities and remove makeup is soaking a cotton pad with your liquid of choice and sweeping it over your facial contours. Most formulas don’t even require rinsing afterwards, which leads us to our next benefit: convenience. You can use a no-rinse micellar water from virtually anywhere, whether that be at your desk at work, in bed, or at the gym. This perk is incredibly convenient for gals on the go, gym buffs, and those who simply don’t want to maintain close proximity to a sink when cleansing. The biggest benefit of using micellar water, however, boils down to its multi-tasking capabilities. They’re essentially all-in-one formulas that can cleanse and refresh skin, and remove makeup without harsh rubbing or tugging. Since they’re so gentle, most micellar waters can be enjoyed by all skin types, including sensitive.

Even though micellar water isn’t necessarily a new technology, their popularity has only gotten bigger after making their way Stateside from France. Which is why some of our favorite brands are continuing to launch new and unique innovations. One such brand is Kiehl’s, with plans to launch a brand new micellar water infused with lemon balm floral water and thyme essential oil this summer. The formula isn’t available for purchase just yet, but the Skincare.com team received a complimentary sample to try and review ahead of launch. Curious to know our thoughts? Keep reading for our review of Kiehl’s Herbal-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water!

Kiehl’s Herbal-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Recommended for: All skin types, even sensitive.

Formulated with lemon balm floral water and thyme essential oil, this cleansing water effectively cleanses the skin and removes makeup without rinsing, rubbing, or scrubbing. It’s a powerful, yet gentle formula that uses micelle technology to instantly trap and lift away any lingering dirt, impurities, and makeup with a saturated cotton pad. In addition to leaving the skin clean and feeling soft, refreshed, and renewed, the all-in-one cleanser leaves behind a pleasant herbal aroma.

Our thoughts: As big fans of micellar water in general, we were excited to try out this new formula that’s made with 99.8% naturally derived ingredients, which Kiehl's considers if the ingredient is unchanged from its natural state or if it has undergone processing yet retains greater than 50% of its molecular structure from its original plant or mineral source. While we could have used it on its own as both a cleanser and makeup remover, we opted for the double-cleansing method. First, we worked up a nice lather with Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Wash to gently remove impurities and replenish our skin without over-drying. After rinsing and patting dry, we soaked a cotton pad with the Kiehl’s Herbal-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water and swept it across our faces, letting it trap and lift away any lingering dirt and grime the Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Wash could have missed. Not only were we instantly captivated by the herbal water’s lemon aroma, we loved how it left our skin feeling clean, soft, and refreshed.
