- 8 Concealer Hacks to Try in Your Beauty Routine Stat
Concealer isn’t just for breakouts and under-eye circles. We’re sharing the eight best concealer hacks to put this staple makeup product to even more use.
Concealer can help reduce the appearance of complexion woes, including dark circles and breakouts, and for that, we absolutely love it. And while you may be using your concealer the right way, we’re willing to bet that there are a few tricks of the trade you aren’t already privy to. Read on to discover eight nifty hacks that are sure to transform your concealer game.
1. The Upside-Down Triangle Trick
To disguise under-eye bags and dark circles, don’t just smudge some concealer under your eyes and call it a day. One of the best ways to apply concealer beneath the eyes is to draw an upside-down triangle, with its base along your lower lash line. This technique helps brighten the complexion and give the appearance that the face is lifted. Imagine holding a miniature flashlight at the apple of your cheek and pointing it upward towards your eye. Applying your concealer to mimic this shape helps draw the focus upward and temporarily brighten any darkness beneath the eyes.
2. Utilize Your Ring Finger
Fun fact: The ring finger is the weakest of the five, and in turn the best digit to blend concealer with. To avoid unnecessary pulling and stretching to the delicate area around our eyes, use your ring finger to gently blend out concealer placed beneath the eyes.
3. Color-Correcting Concealers Are Your Friends
Concealers aren’t just limited to various shades of skin tone; they come in color varieties to help disguise a wide range of skin concerns including redness, blemishes, and discoloration.
4. Line Your Lips
To help avoid lipstick bleed and to enhance the appearance of your lips, line them with a bit of concealer. This contrast can help define the lips and keep your color where it belongs.
5. DIY Tinted Moisturizer
You can effortlessly your moisturizer tinted simply by mixing in a drop or two of your favorite drop foundation, but creating your own customized skin care isn’t limited to just your foundation. Try mixing a dab of concealer with your daily facial moisturizer for a DIY tinted face cream that can leave your skin hydrated with a subtle hint of color.
6. Define Your Brows
To help shape your brows and define your arc, line them with a concealer that’s a shade lighter than your natural skin tone. Not only will this hack help raise your arc, it helps the brows stand out against your skin tone.
7. Cat Eye Corrector
Just like your lipstick, sometimes your eyeliner doesn’t always stay where it should. To help correct any cat-eye mishaps, or to simply define your wing, line your eyeliner with some concealer. The best way to do this is with a slanted eyeliner brush. Simply dab it onto your favorite concealer and line away for a perfectly-winged cat eye.
8. Eyelid Primer
Although the eyelids are one of the most common places to apply makeup, it can be a tricky place to keep your look intact. Before applying eye shadow and eyeliner, try priming your lids with a concealer to hold the product.
