Dry, Sensitive Skin? Why It’s Time to Try a Sulfate-Free Cleanser

While sulfate-free has long been associated with shampoo and conditioner, did you know that now you can get your hands on sulfate-free face wash as well? It’s true! Garnier recently launched its first ever sulfate-free cleanser and I couldn’t be more excited! I got my hands on a complimentary sample from the brand to test and review—find out what I thought below!

For those that don’t know, sulfates are surfactants that are generally used as cleansing agents in many beauty product formulas. While common, sulfates may pose issues for those with sensitive or dry skin as they can sometimes strip the skin of moisture. In order to help avoid this, dermatologists and skin care experts may advise those with dry or sensitive skin to skip out on sulfates all together, opting instead for sulfate-free face washes for cleansing. We decided to hop onboard the sulfate-free train to see if it might make a difference. Spoiler alert: It did…for me!

GARNIER THE GENTLE SULFATE-FREE CLEANSER

What sparked my interest in going sulfate-free was Garnier’s newest face wash, The Gentle Sulfate-Free Cleanser. This sulfate-free cleanser is mild and suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin. The sulfate-free cleanser gently helps to remove the appearance of excess oil, impurities, and makeup from the skin’s surface for a soft, clean feeling complexion. The cleanser is formulated with glycerin, a known moisturizing ingredient, so it shouldn’t leave the skin feeling over-dry.

What I loved about this sulfate-free cleanser is how gentle it is. My dry, seasonally sensitive skin wasn’t stripped of moisture after rinsing the very light foam away and didn’t feel uncomfortable. With other cleansers we’ve all but ran to our moisturizer after rinsing but not anymore! While we still moisturize after each and every cleanse—really, you have to—now it’s not because our skin feels dehydrated and parched but instead because we want to lock in that lovely post-cleanse feel. This mild cleanser has become our new go-to for twice-daily cleansing.

If you’ve been looking for a mild face wash that’s gentle yet still effective, this may be it!
