This Beauty Influencer Has a Surprisingly Simple Skin Care Routine

Beauty vlogger and content creator Niki Crowley—aka Niki Crow—has amassed an impressive and incredibly loyal fanbase on multiple social media platforms, and it’s no surprise why. From makeup and hair tutorials to addictive product hauls, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed guru has a knack for all things beauty. And while you might immediately think that Crowley—a gal surrounded by a seemingly endless arsenal of goodies—partakes in a lengthy 10-step skin care routine (or the like), you’d be surprised to discover that quite the opposite is true.

“I consider my skin care routine to be on the simple side,” Crowley says. “Everyone’s skin reacts differently and requires different levels of care. I think it’s best to try out new routines to find out what works best for you and your skin.”

So, what specific routine is partially responsible for Crowley’s flawless-looking skin? It starts with an application of eye cream in the morning—that’s right…just eye cream—followed by an application of primer, which helps prep her skin for makeup. “A foundation formulated with Broad Spectrum SPF is one of my essentials,” Crowley says. “If I plan on wearing liquid lipstick that day, I’ll apply a nourishing lip balm about 15 minutes prior for hydrated lips.” In the evening, Crowley begins by removing all traces of makeup with a gentle makeup remover and follows up with a small amount of moisturizer if her skin looks dry. “Once every other week, I’ll use a charcoal mask,” she says.

Looking back, I wish I had followed my instinct and paid attention to what worked for me instead of following a certain routine.

While there’s no denying that Crowley has found a great routine for her skin, she admits that it has been a long time coming. “When I was younger, there was a skin care regimen that every girl in my school followed,’ she says. “It irritated my skin and caused breakouts. Looking back, I wish I had followed my instinct and paid attention to what worked for me instead of following a certain routine.”

Learning from her mistakes, Crowley wants readers to know that finding a routine that works is of utmost importance when it comes to caring for your skin. “Just because your best friend or makeup artist uses a certain product or follows a certain routine, doesn’t mean it’s best for you and your skin,” she says. Another piece of sound advice Crowley wants to spread to the world? Feeling confident in your own skin. “Do whatever it is that makes you feel beautiful,” Crowley says. “Never mind what anyone else says or thinks about your personal style and beauty. Confidence in yourself is the most important thing in your beauty routine!”

Amen to that.
