4 Skin-Care Products You Shouldn’t Ditch Just Because It’s Warm Outside

It’s always a good idea to take stock of what skin-care products you’re using at the beginning of each new season. Are there any you can consider rotating out of your routine or reintroduce? When temperatures get hot and humid, it’s tempting to want to strip your routine down to the bare minimum — no one likes to feel greasy and weighed down. But if you have any of the four product categories below on the chopping block, you may want to reconsider. Here’s why.

Oil Cleanser

Any product with the word “oil” in the name might send you running for the hills come summer, but oil cleansers can be beneficial for all skin types year round — yes, even oily. The Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil, for example, is non-comedogenic and transforms into a milk when applied on damp skin, leaving your skin feeling soft and hydrated, not greasy. Adding one to your routine (whether it be by itself or before a water-based cleanser for a double cleanse) can help to remove impurities from skin’s surface and keep pores from clogging.

Sheet Masks

In the winter, cozying up with a sheet mask is the perfect way to pamper your dry skin, but in the spring and summer, we like to use them as a refreshing treat to replenish and soothe skin after getting too much sun or to give a tired and dull complexion and instant boost. The Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb The Super Hydrating Smoothing Mask contains hyaluronic acid, a lightweight yet effective hydrator, and leaves skin feeling fresh, comforted and looking radiant.

Serums

Using a serum doesn’t have to mean adding a thick layer of moisture to your routine. You can find serums that target  all sorts of skin concerns —like visible fine lines and wrinkles. This summer we’ll be reaching for the YSL Beauty Pure Shots Lines Away Anti-Aging Serum, a silky formula that targets visible signs of aging like wrinkles.

Exfoliator

Using an exfoliator in the winter can  help slough away dead surface skin and rough patches. Although your skin may appear smoother and perhaps experience less incidents of dryness in the warmer months, exfoliating is still important for  keeping pores clean of dirt and debris  and boosting surface cell turnover. We’re newly obsessed with the Lancôme Rénergie Lift Multi-Action Ultra Milk Peel, a gentle formula that contains vitamin E, linseed extract, micelles and LHA (lipo-hydroxy-acid).
