5 Ways to Apply Skin Care in Public Without Looking Insane

As skin care has grown in popularity and the routines have become more involved, it’s no surprise that we’ve graduated to doing parts of our regimen or touch-ups throughout the day. It’s become standard fare, and it isn’t out of place to see someone sheet-masking while unwinding on a long flight or patting on an eye cream on the train. There are lots of other ways to skin care in public though — we’ve rounded up our favorite options ahead.

OPTION 1: Use a Moisture Mask

Moisture masks like Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask are precisely the kind of visible skin care we can get on board with. The hydrating cream face mask contains ceramides, antioxidants and gentle exfoliants that work together to lend skin a radiant, healthy complexion. This mask can be wiped away with a damp cloth (but should be worn for at least ten minutes) or left on and used as an all-day moisturizer.

OPTION 2: Be Bold

Gone are the days when sheet-masking in public WAS embarrassing. It is now acceptable to mask on planes, trains and in automobiles, making it easy to get skin-care benefits anywhere. We recommend opting for a deeply hydrating pick like Garnier SkinActive The Super Hydrating Sheet Mask, a water-based sheet mask formulated with hyaluronic acid to help prevent moisture loss throughout the day.

OPTION 3: Keep Your Favorite Tools and Gadgets Handy

One of the easiest (and least questionable) ways to skin care in public is to use an innocuous tool like a facial roller, which looks chic but helps to increase blood flow in the face and work in your favorite serums and moisturizers. An effective facial rolling session only takes a few minutes out of your day, and if you want to take it to the next level, you can use two at once. One of our favorite facial rollers is IT Cosmetics Face & Neck Citrine Roller, a single-ended roller you can use on your face, neck and chest.

OPTION 4: Mist the Day Away

If your skin needs a little hydration, we recommend reaching for a facial mist that’ll deliver skin-care benefits while also refreshing skin. One of our favorite picks is the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Face Mist, which contains mineral spring water packed with antioxidants to gently refresh and tone the skin.

OPTION 5: Reapply Sunscreen

Although this might seem obvious, sunscreen is a form of skin care, and is an essential step in any routine. Slather on a formula like CeraVe Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 before leaving the house. It offers sun protection and has ceramides to help lock in moisture.
