6 Products You Should Pack for Your Next Camping Trip

There’s a time and a place for packing a suitcase full of every last skin care item in your beauty bag. A camping trip in the great outdoors is arguably not one of them. Now, don’t get us wrong: We’re not suggesting you forgo all of your skin care favorites, but for practicality and space purposes, it’s worth downsizing your load. By no means should this sacrifice your fresh-faced look, though. Need help checking off your packing list? Ahead, six beauty essentials that’ll make you a happy camper while you’re roughin’ it.

LA ROCHE-POSAY MICELLAR WATER

Just because you’re spending the weekend in a tent, doesn’t mean you have a free pass on cleansing your skin. Quite contrarily, your cleansing game should be amped up a notch (your head will be resting super close to dirt, after all). A gentle micellar water cleanser makes the most sense in this situation because it works triple-duty to cleanse skin of dirt and oil, tone, and remove makeup with a simple sweep of a cotton pad. Plus, there’s no need to rinse, which makes your life that much easier if there’s no bathroom or sink close by.

La Roche-Posay Micellar Water, $19.99

L’ORÉAL PROFESSIONNEL TECNI.ART FRESH DUST DRY SHAMPOO

Assuming you’re not “glamping,” chances are a shower won’t be as readily available on campgrounds. Avoid a greasy scalp (and strands) with a texturizing dry shampoo—it’s a camping must-have. Spray some at your roots, comb it through, and you’re good to go.

L'Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Fresh Dust Dry Shampoo, $5.99

VICHY IDÉAL CAPITAL SOLEIL SPF 45

It should be a crime to go camping without water-resistant, broad-spectrum sunscreen in tow. I mean, extended periods of time outdoors? That screams sun protection from all angles. Pack this fast-absorbing, dry-finish sunscreen with SPF 45 as your best defense against damaging sun rays. The formula combines antioxidants white grape polyphenol and vitamin E to help neutralize free radical damage. Don’t fret about a white residue post-application—there is none. Just make sure to reapply often.

Vichy Idéal Capital Soleil SPF 45, $28.50

MAYBELLINE BABY LIPS IN QUENCHED

Wearing SPF outdoors is non-negotiable, as you already know, so grab an SPF-packed lip balm for your lips, too. It’s available in a variety of shades, but Quenched—the colorless version—offers SPF 20 to help protect a delicate pout while it hydrates.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched, $3.99

VICHY IDÉALIA BB CREAM

We’re all in favor of going sans makeup—au natural, if you will—while hanging out in the wilderness, but for those who simply refuse to go without some coverage (we feel you, ladies), reach for this lightweight BB cream formulated with a blend of kombucha, vitamin E, Vichy’s own mineralizing water from French volcanoes, and (duh) SPF 25.

Vichy Idéalia BB Cream, $29

LANCÔME ABSOLUE L'EXTRAIT MIST

Don’t be surprised if it’s hot as hell outside during your trip—choose to be prepared instead. This refreshing face mist offers immediate cooling relief from the blaring sun, and helps revive and hydrate skin that’s taken a beating. Spray it over your entire facial zone, as much as desired. Each spritz smells like a rose garden; it’s so worth the splurge!

Lancôme Absolue L’Extrait Mist, $140
