- We Tried the CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen on Light, Medium and Dark Skin Tones
It doesn’t matter what your skin type, color or age is, applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every day is imperative. During the summer, we love applying a tinted sunscreen to help protect our skin while also offering lightweight, comfortable coverage. The latest one we’ve been hearing about is the CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen with SPF 30. It provides seamless blending into skin for all skin tones. To put it to the test, CeraVe provided us with complimentary product to test and review, so we asked three Skincare.com editors with varying skin tones for their thoughts.
Genesis, Medium Skin Tone
My first impressions about the CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen with SPF 30 was that it was super lightweight and left a really natural finish. The color was a little light against my medium complexion at first, but once I blended it out, it seamlessly melted into my skin. The tinted coverage helped improve the appearance of the mild redness I have on my cheeks, which I loved. My favorite part about this sunscreen, though, was the dewy finish. It’s nice to know that it protected my skin from the harmful UV rays while looking naturally radiant.

Samantha, Fair Skin Tone
My skin tone is super fair, so when I’m looking for tinted sunscreen, I need something that will both help protect my burn-prone skin from the sun’s harmful rays and come in a shade that doesn’t turn my complexion orange after a few hours. This new CeraVe SPF checked off both my criteria. The formula is super lightweight and doesn’t get thick or clumpy when I reapply layers every few hours. The sheer formula — which I thought would turn me orange — actually blended really nicely with my skin tone. Plus, the dewy, hydrating finish is perfect for my low-key summer routine. All I do is swipe on a bright lip, some liquid highlighter and I’m good to go!

Malaika, Dark Skin Tone
As a woman with dark skin, it's hard to find a sunscreen that doesn’t leave an unsightly white cast on my skin, but I was pleasantly surprised that CeraVe’s Tinted Sunscreen blended seamlessly under my foundation and didn’t leave my skin looking dry or ashen. It’s also non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores, which is great for my acne-prone skin, and it’s a formula with three essential ceramides that keeps my skin feeling smooth and hydrated. Consider me a CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen convert.
