With every year that passes, there’s no denying that the technological advancements continue to bring on the ‘wow’ factor. Looking back just a few years would reveal different computers, phones, TVs, cameras, and more. As our daily gadgets evolve with the latest advancements, it’s only natural for us to see that impact the beauty industry as well.
Lately, some of the biggest beauty brands have been tapping into the tech industry put forth truly groundbreaking products. These gadgets and gizmos can take your hair, skin, and makeup routines to a whole new level, making them more efficient, more useful, and more advanced. Need some proof? Scroll through for some of the latest and greatest beauty-tech innovations showcased at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2018).
L’Oréal UV Sense
The innovators at L’Oréal—Skincare.com’s parent company—have had their eyes on the high-tech beauty world for decades. They’re always finding ways to combine modern technology with beauty and one of their most recent innovations, debuted at CES 2018, is the UV Sense.
Following in the footsteps of the My UV Patch, the UV Sense stands out from its award-winning predecessor in one tiny way: its size. UV Sense is so small, in fact, that you can stick it onto your thumbnail. It’s less than two millimeters thick, nine millimeters in diameter, and is meant for wear for up to two weeks. Its package comes with multiple adhesives so you can change it at ease, and it can store up to three months of data.
Here’s how the patch works: It’s powered by your smartphone and activated by UVA and UVB exposure, and records sun exposure levels and sun-safety habits through a downloadable app. It’s battery-free, and can help expand your knowledge about excessive sun exposure and the proper tactics you should take to keep your skin protected.
Mirror, mirror, on the wall, which moisturizer is the best of them all? While your average mirror won’t be able to tell you, the HiMirror can act as your personal skin care consultant. This mirror has a built-in camera that assesses different aspects of your skin: wrinkles, fine lines, clarity, dark circles, dark spots, red spots, and pores, to be exact. It also personalizes skin care methods just for you, and can help you track the progress of your skin.
FOREO UFO Smart Mask
While sheet masks can be a fun way to end the day, some can be pretty messy and take too much time out of our busy schedules. That is, until now, because the FOREO UFO Smart Mask takes a mere 90 seconds of your day. This smart mask is revolutionary thanks to its ease and efficiency. The mask, named the world’s first smart mask, combines the latest skin care tech with Korean mask formulas for an indulgent facial treatment you can enjoy morning, night, or whenever you have 90 seconds to spare. You can even connect and control your UFO Smart Mask tool with the FOREO beauty app, and you can build a personalized skin profile, obtain expert beauty tips, and find out which activated mask is best for you.
The Neutrogena SkinScanner is a tool that you attach right to your phone’s camera to do what no consumer-level skin care tool has done before: look beneath the surface of your skin. It’s built with 12 high-powered LED lights, a 30x magnification lens, and highly accurate sensors to measure above and below the skin’s surface. This tool looks deep into fine lines, wrinkles, and pores while measuring your skin’s moisture levels solely to inform you about the health of your skin. You can track your results and progress using the Neutrogena Skin360 app.
One of the biggest factors in the quality of your skin is the quality of your sleep. If you’re having trouble feeling well-rested, try the Philips SmartSleep headband. This is no ordinary headband: the SmartSleep headband works together with the sleep app to improve your sleep with its high-tech sensors. These sensors detect when you fall into deep “slow wave” sleep, and triggers quiet audio tones to boost slow waves to help improve your quality of sleep.
Smart mirrors got a major upgrade with the CareOS. This bathroom smart mirror features AI technology that can give you beauty tips just by you holding one of your favorite products in front of the mirror. Men can also benefit from its AI features, as it can help you detect those hard-to-reach shaving spots. One feature that really makes this smart mirror stand out is its 4-D visualization, which gives you an extra set of eyes and helps you see behind you when styling your hair. It also features smart lighting, augmented reality features, skin analyses, and touchless interaction.
