New Trend Alert: Cleansing Sticks

Just when you thought you’d seen all the compact beauty items out there to date, we’re here to share another that’s poised to be one of the next skin care fads: cleansing sticks. They originated in Korea (no surprise there!) and are slowly making their way Stateside. Like other fan-favorite Korean beauty innovations—sheet masks, cushion compacts, essences, etc.—cleansing sticks are likely to transform your beauty routine for the better. As its name suggests, cleansing sticks are essentially a cleanser stored in a swivel tube. But rather than a runny, foamy liquid that you’re probably used to, cleansing sticks are solid and dissolve into creamy suds that help rinse away dirt, oil, impurities and more once paired with water. Cleansing sticks are just beginning to take off in the U.S., so what better time than now to bring you up to speed on all the benefits they can provide? Ahead, we share four game-changing benefits of using cleansing sticks in your routine. Bye-bye bar soap.

MESS-PROOF

Have you ever tossed a cleanser into your purse, luggage, or gym bag only to have the entire bottle leak onto your keys, wallet, and personal belongings? With cleansing sticks, you don’t have to worry about soapy liquid covering your prized possessions. The sticks are solid rather than liquid, so you can carry them in your purse or gym bag with little fear of spillage.

PORTABILITY

Thanks to their compact size, cleansing sticks are extremely portable. They take up very little room and are ideal for traveling far and wide. Now you’ll never have an excuse to use hotel bar soap ever again or—worse than that—skip cleansing while on vacation altogether.

EASY APPLICATION

Cleansing sticks are incredibly easy to use, ideal for all low-maintenance routines. (Lazy girls, do we have your attention yet?) Most sticks are meant to be massaged directly onto a damp face in gentle, circular motions. Next, lather with your wet fingers, rinse off with lukewarm water, and pat dry. Follow up with your usual moisturizer and voila, you’re done! Easy, peasy.

Note: Some cleansing sticks may have slightly different use instructions. Always follow the instructions listed on the product label for best results.

CONSERVATION OF PRODUCT

Since cleansing sticks are stored in a twist-up tube and applied directly to the face, very little product—if any—goes to waste. With liquid cleansers, it’s much easier to mistakenly over-saturate a cotton pad or apply too much liquid in your lather.
