This New Micellar Cleanser Lathers Into a Foam
Here at Skincare.com, we know true and well that some of the biggest innovations in skin care hail from places outside of the country. Take micellar water, for instance. Few would argue that micellar water truly revolutionized the way we clean our skin, adding an additional (and often no-rinse) cleansing option into the mix beyond the standard wipes and towelettes. But as much as we Americans adore micellar water Stateside, we owe a deep thanks to France for introducing us to micelle technology in the first place. Since then, micellar waters have taken the U.S. by storm, and show no signs of slowing down. In fact, brands are now looking for ways to develop the technology even further. One such brand is Garnier, who recently launched a brand new foaming micellar cleanser.
Garnier is no stranger to micellar water. The brand’s portfolio boasts three micellar cleansing waters—one for all skin types, one for oily skin, and one for waterproof makeup—of which two are available in travel-size. But that’s not all. It also includes two makeup removing towelettes—one for all skin types, and one for waterproof makeup—featuring micelle technology. So while this newly-launched Micellar Foaming Cleanser is different from its predecessors in texture, we can’t say we’re truly surprised by the expansion of their micellar family—it was only a matter of time. Never ones to pass up testing new products, we gave Garnier’s new SkinActive Micellar Foaming Cleanser a try. Read on for our full product review of Micellar Foaming Cleanser.
WHAT IS MICELLE TECHNOLOGY?
Before we get to our review of the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Foaming Cleanser, we’re sharing a refresher on the science behind micellar water. All micellar waters boast gentle micelles, microscopic cleansing molecules that work together to trap impurities—think: excess oil, dirt, makeup—from your skin’s surface like a magnet. What’s more, most micellar waters don’t require rinsing or harsh rubbing, meaning you can gently cleanse your skin from virtually anywhere so long as you have a cotton pad handy. For that reason, you’ll find micellar waters on nightstands, desks, as well as in carry-ons and gym bags.

HOW TO USE GARNIER SKINACTIVE MICELLAR FOAMING CLEANSER
Remember when we said most micellar waters don’t require rinsing? That’s because some of them still do require close proximity to a sink, and Micellar Foaming Cleanser is one of them. To use, simply apply the formula onto wet skin, gently massage it into a lather and rinse off. No harsh rubbing necessary.
GARNIER SKINACTIVE MICELLAR FOAMING CLEANSER ALL-IN-1 RINSE OFF REVIEW
As a big fan of micellar waters in general, I was intrigued when I heard that yet another beauty innovation incorporating micelle technology was hitting shelves. I typically wear full-coverage makeup during the day, so I’m always looking for cleansers that can remove my makeup after a long day without all the wear and tear. After taking Micellar Foaming Cleanser for a test run, I found that my makeup was gently and effectively removed from my skin’s surface immediately. After my first use, my skin didn’t feel over-dry but rather cleansed and refreshed.
I simply pumped the bottle twice and massaged the foaming gel into a lather on my wet face, lips, and eyelids. And without any harsh rubbing, I thoroughly rinsed my skin clean. I highly recommend this ultra-gentle foaming gel morning and night to remove dirt, oil, and makeup.
