Career Diaries: Meet Amanda Bell, the Director of Artistry and Education at Pixi Beauty

If you love shopping for beauty products that are affordable and effective, then chances are you’ve heard of or even use Pixi Beauty. The brand is known for its multipurpose skincare and makeup products that come in pretty pastel green packaging. Here, we interviewed Amanda Bell, director of artistry and education, to learn more about the brand and what it has upcoming.

Can you tell us about your background and how you got started in skincare?

I have been a makeup artist for 27 years and prepping the skin has always been such a fundamental part of what I do. But I really started to become interested in skincare in my teenage years. My skin was very sensitive, so I loved to research ingredients and formulations that I could use and research what worked for me.

What is your role at Pixi Beauty?

I work with and across different departments in all Pixi offices. Generally, my day to day consists of creating copy, working directly with Petra (the founder), creating the training and education across the three Pixi offices, creating content for international retailers and meeting with press influencers and key industry experts.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

There are actually so many things that I love about my job, ranging from working with an independent brand where the founder is still the creative and driving force. I also love being part of a team that really has become my work family. I love mentoring people and leading by example; I am so proud of what my colleagues achieve and watching them grow in confidence and evolve is absolutely phenomenal.

On a very personal level, I have been vegetarian my whole life and vegan for 12 years, so I am proud to be part of a brand that is cruelty-free and that is moving to be completely vegan as well.

What’s your daily skincare routine?

In the morning, I cleanse, tone, then apply serum, an eye treatment, moisturizer, mist and sunscreen. In the evening, I double cleanse, tone, apply serum or oil (depending on what my skin needs), follow with eye cream and an overnight mask. I like to exfoliate once or twice a week and apply masks depending on what is going on with my skin.

What’s your favorite product from Pixi Beauty?

The Remedy Masks are my favorite skincare product. They are the brand’s newest launch and consist of three super-sized masks that are packed with nourishing ingredients. There’s a nourishing Rose Remedy Mask, a Vitamin-C Remedy Mask that brightens and a Milky Remedy Mask that contains oat milk to calm and soothe the skin. The results are so instant and they can be used individually all over the face or as a multi-masking treatment to target your needs in specific areas.

My favorite makeup product is the Flawless Beauty Primer, which melts into the skin and makes it look radiant and glowy. I like to use it as a base because it makes the skin look even and flawless.

What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty is everywhere. There is no narrow definition, we are surrounded by it. Confidence and kindness are very beautiful, too.
