Our Editors Review the YSL Beauty NU Tone Correctors

There’s a lot that a dedicated skincare routine can accomplish, from diminishing the look of sun spots to decreasing redness and breakouts. But no matter how many creams or serums we try, we could all use a little extra help sometimes in targeting our skin concerns. Enter the YSL Beauty NU Tone Corrector, a color corrector that’s available in three shades (Rosy, Golden and Green) to counteract dullness, dark spots and redness, respectively. Below, three of our editors each try a shade, courtesy of the brand.

Shade: Rosy

I have to admit that I’ve never really been a believer in color correctors, but with winter rapidly approaching and less time spent outdoors, my skin tends to look sallow. I’ll try anything to revive my skin this season so that I can hang onto my summer glow. I’ve tried other face makeup products from YSL Beauty’s NU line — all of which have my approval for their super hydrating powers — so I wanted to give the YSL Beauty NU Tone Corrector in Rosy a try, too. After a few trials with and without makeup, I’m a fan. It’s more subtle than the full-coverage correctors I’ve seen, but it has definitely helped my dull skin dilemma. I sometimes use it as a primer under the YSL Beauty NU Bare Look Tint in NU 13 (as seen here), but my favorite way to wear it is on bare skin when I feel the most washed out. It brings my skin back to life!

Shade: Green

This product surprised me. Unlike a traditional color corrector, it comes out white, then blends out into a very faint tint. That’s why each shade is meant for specific skin tones: Green and Rosy are best for fair to medium skin, while Golden is best for dark skin tones. Despite its untraditional appearance, it works well at correcting all-over redness. It’s not a miracle product, so it won’t completely conceal redness from, say, a fresh breakout, but it can help minimize it, especially under foundation. For me, this is not an everyday skin product, but I like how hydrating it feels and the fact that even though its effects are subtle, it does work to give me a more even complexion under makeup. Here, I’m wearing it underneath the YSL Beauty NU Bare Look Tint in NU 1

Shade: Golden

What I love about the NU Tone Corrector is that I notice that my skin looks brighter and more even every time I use it. Recently, my skin has looked a bit dull, but when I put this on, it looks illuminated, even under my foundation. As for dark marks, the corrector doesn’t completely cancel out my trouble areas, but it does diminish the look of them. I also love how hydrating the formula is — it’s definitely a must-try if you’re looking for a brighter-looking complexion. This is what it looks like underneath the YSL Beauty NU Bare Look Tint in NU 16.
