Attention Parents! You'll Want to Snag this Sunscreen for the Kids Before School's Out

Looking for a sunscreen that both you and your kids will love? Look no further! La Roche-Posay’s new Anthelios Dermo-Kids was developed with dermatologists especially for children and is officially available just in time for summer!

Anyone who has ever had to slather a kid in sunscreen—or watched someone who has—can tell you, the act alone should be considered an Olympic sport. Nine times out of 10 your little one wants nothing to do with the heavy, greasy-feeling lotion yet, the importance of wearing it strongly outweighs their protests!

Thus starts every parents' search for a kid-friendly sunscreen that will not only get the job done but will also not be met with squirms and screams when it’s time to apply—and reapply. This is especially important as we near the summer season when outdoor activities like camp and long days at the pool are on heavy rotation. Thankfully, your search just got easier. Just in time for summer break, La Roche-Posay has launched Anthelios Dermo-Kids, a gentle sunscreen lotion fit for a child’s sensitive skin! Learn more about this great new sunscreen below.

The Importance of Sunscreen

When it comes to skin care there are lots of options but only a few non-negotiables.  Ranking high on that must-do list is wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen—each and every day, all year long. The sun’s harsh UV rays know no bounds—or age for that matter—so it’s important to start using broad-spectrum sunscreen—and adopting other sun-safe practices like wearing hats and seeking shade—early on in life in order to make a habit of it.

As a parent, when you’re looking for a sunscreen for your child, you want it to be a product that offers protection—and ideally more than just the recommended SPF 15—is suitable for a child’s sensitive skin, and is lightweight—because kids get greasy and sticky enough all on their own!

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Kids

To answer the request for a sunscreen that is suitable for a child’s sensitive skin, La Roche-Posay, worked with dermatologists and developed Anthelios Dermo-Kids. The gentle face and body sunscreen lotion boasts broad-spectrum SPF 60, providing UVA and UVB protection when used properly and reapplied as directed. In addition to broad-spectrum SPF, the sunscreen formula is enhanced with vitamin E, glycerin, Cell-OX Shield, and La Roche-Posay’s exclusive thermal water, helping to neutralize free radicals on the skin’s surface.

Parents will be happy to see that the sunscreen was not only developed and tested by dermatologists but that it’s also been tested by pediatricians. While the ingredients in the formula were carefully selected—among them avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, and octocrylene—the brand and the dermatologists they partnered with were also selective abut the ingredients they left out. The formula is free of oil, parabens, fragrance, oxybenzone, and retinyl palmitate.

We got our hands on a complimentary sample from the brand and can say that the non-comedogenic formula—while created for a child—is quite pleasant for anyone of any age to apply. The sunscreen doesn’t run (a common complaint about sunscreens in the younger set) and it feels comfortable and lightweight on the skin!
