Inside One Beauty Vlogger's Balanced Skin Care Regimen

When it comes to her daily regimen, beauty vlogger and content creator, Nikki Apostolou—aka The Cosmeholic—says it’s all about balance. “There are some days when I reach for 10 products or more, and then there are days where I just want to make sure my skin is clean [and] moisturized,” she says. As far as her morning routine is concerned, Apostolou likes to keep things refreshing and gentle. She starts her mornings by drinking water and cleansing her skin of dirt and debris with a gentle face wash. She then applies a creamy moisturizer—she loves Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer—to her face and neck. Once her complexion is cleansed and moisturized, she spritzes her skin with a facial mist as a quick morning pick-me-up and then applies Broad Spectrum sunscreen for protection against UV rays. After her skin is armed and ready for the day, she begins her makeup application, which “varies by day.”

In the spirit of balance, Apostolou has days when she wears a full face of makeup, days when she rocks more of a no-makeup makeup—or, a subtle—look, and days when she goes completely bare-faced and her night time skin care routine is reflective of that. In the evenings, Apostolou likes to use a makeup remover wipe all over her face—even if she didn’t apply any makeup that day. On days when she wears a full face of makeup, she removes her matte lipstick—one of her go-to’s—with a lipstick remover wipe and follows up with eye makeup remover (like us, she’s a fan of Lancôme’s Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover). Once her makeup has been removed, she cleanses her skin. “Three nights a week, I use an exfoliating [cleanser] to help remove dead skin cells and the [rest] of the week I use a gentle cleanser,” Apostolou says. She then applies a toner, vitamin C serum, and moisturizer.

There are so many types [of products available] that whatever your skin care needs, concerns, [and] even budget are, there is a product out there for you.

In addition to her morning and evening routines, Apostolou likes to switch things up with weekly at-home facials and often reaches for formulas such as masks, peels, and deep cleansers. She suggests using weekly pampering as an excuse to “put on some relaxing music, lay back, read a magazine, and just devote some time to yourself.” The best part about her weekly ritual? It’s budget-friendly! “There are so many types [of products available] that whatever your skin care needs, concerns, [and] even budget are, there is a product out there for you.”

Whether it be her morning and nightly routines, or her weekly at-home spa days, we love how Apostolou takes a more balanced approach when it comes to her skin. This not only allows her flexibility in both time and product usage, it allows her to target her concerns in a more intuitive manner, too.
