- I Tried the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment to Help With My Dry Under Eyes and It Worked!
While I’ve historically always reached for eye creams to tackle my number-one skin-care concern, a.k.a. dark circles, recently I noticed that as the temperatures begin to drop, the delicate skin around my eye contour gets dry. When skin is dry it can cause wrinkles and fine lines to appear more pronounced and frankly, as a 30-year-old who’s just starting to see evidence of those fine lines known as crow’s feet, this was not okay with me. More power to you, if you embrace yours, though!
Thankfully, when sifting through the complimentary samples in the Skincare.com closet, I saw we had Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Treatment to review. With nearly all five-star reviews across the board, this Creamy Eye Treatment is a clear fan-favorite. And after reading words like “creamy texture,” “hydrating” and “doesn’t migrate into your eyes” on the packaging, I knew I had to try it for myself. Ahead, check out our review to find out if Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with avocado is worth the buzz.

About the Formula
Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with avocado was tested by ophthalmologists and dermatologists to ensure its efficacy. This team of professionals knew what the people wanted, because the beloved formula lives in the #3 spot of the top 10 Kiehl’s skin-care products of all time.
The eye treatment is a creamy formula infused with avocado oil that helps to gently moisturize the delicate eye area with its uniquely concentrated texture. Avocado oil, which is a rich, fatty-acid emollient known to be moisturizing, helps to restore hydration to the skin, and according to Kiehl’s, it’s also a source of amino acid proteins, vitamins A, D, E and potassium. The cream is also formulated with beta-carotene – an antioxidant found in orange and red vegetables that are rich in vitamin A – and shea butter, a fat obtained from the fruit of the African Karate tree that’s used in many lotions for its hydrating properties.
My Initial Observations
The first thing I noticed when I opened my small jar of Kiehl’s avocado eye cream was its incredibly thick, creamy texture. Most of my eye creams to-date have had more of a gel or serum texture — but, as mentioned earlier, most of them weren’t being used to achieve hydration benefits. Needless to say, the unique, creamy texture made me feel confident this eye cream would be a winner in the moisture department. I used my (clean) ring finger to take a small amount of the product and I gently tapped it around each eye’s orbital bone. Disclaimer: a little goes a super long way with this stuff.
How to Apply Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream
We’re told to use our ring finger, or even your pinky, to apply eye cream because they are supposedly the weakest of our digits. Since the eye area is so thin and delicate, any rough tugging or rubbing can be a contributing source of skin wrinkling and even dark circles. I applied the eye cream to the orbital bone because they can often migrate into the eye over the course of a day or night. By focusing the cream on the orbital bone, (the area surrounding the eye contour) you are protecting your eyes from the product while still getting the formula where you need it.
This migration of product is actually something I’ve experienced in the past with other eye creams. Partly because I applied them too close to my eye thinking this was the best way to get rid of my inherited and not-going-anywhere-soon dark circles, but also because often the formulas I used were very fluid. Kiehl’s avocado eye cream is the exact opposite. This product was designed so that it won’t migrate and it truly lives up to that claim. Not once have I woken up to red, irritated-looking eyes caused by the eye cream.
The Long-Term Benefits
After reviewing Kiehl’s avocado eye cream for a few months I can now attest to the following benefits:
Benefit 1: The thick formula stays put — no eye cream migration here.
Benefit 2: It moisturizes the eye contour — my eye area looks more hydrated and youthful because of it.
Benefit 3: Because of its unique concentrated formula, even the smaller pot of the eye cream will last you a while.
I can officially see why Kiehl’s avocado eye cream is a customer favorite because it’s officially one of mine as well!
