- How a Drugstore Lip Balm Saved My Super Chapped Lips
Every winter, I knew it was coming: My dry, chapped lips would crack and peel to the point of bleeding. I had tried it all—covering my lips from the harsh wind, layering balm on balm on balm, scrubbing in hopes new lips would be found underneath—but nothing worked. Until, on a desperate drugstore run whim, I picked up a tube of Maybelline’s Baby Lips using the change I had in my purse. Kissable lips for less than $5? Color me surprised—and unbelievably happy.
Maybelline Baby Lips
What struck me most when I started using Baby Lips is its silky smooth texture. This balm is truly lightweight and simply glides on, unlike its innumerable thick, paste-like counterparts which can leave you feeling like you have a layer of candle wax on your mouth. A blend of hydrating ingredients—including moisturizing shea butter—work to hydrate lips for up to eight hours. While Baby Lips comes in a variety of shades, I’m a big fan of the colorless version, Quenched which features an SPF 20 to help product my pout from the sun’s rays as it hydrates.
Maybelline Baby Lips, $3.99 (price may vary)
